Joost bills itself as "The new way of watching TV" and I totally agree. It's on demand TV that allows you to switch channels and even use a remote to do it. I totally dig it, and believe that it is indeed the future of TV.
The shows takes a few seconds to buffer and every so often it has to re-buffer the stream. An advertisement comes on once every 15 minutes or so, and sometimes ads are in the corners that you can click on to navigate to a website. Pretty cool, and not intrusive, way less than say, regular OTA TV.
The biggest problem is there's really not that much content. For instance, I want to see some educational little kid shows for my kids. Nada. I'm thinking, they really couldn't break a deal with PBS to get some Seaseme Street going, but they can persuade MTV and Comedy Central? Sure, those channels are geared towards 17-25 year olds, but that's about all the TV you're going to get on Joost. Most of it was comedy, MTV type channels. I did see the token adultish CNN news broadcast, but give me a good kids channel Mr Joost!
